Shares of some top machinery companies were down at the close of trading:
Caterpillar fell $.24 or .4 percent, to $56.22.
Deere fell $.45 or 1.0 percent, to $46.76.
Manitowoc fell $.05 or .5 percent, to $10.09.
Terex fell $.20 or .9 percent, to $20.86.
